At Sheer Delight we are proud to support the charity Breast Cancer Campaign.
This started some years ago when my best friend Carole had the disease and I simply put the pink collection tin on the counter top. Then in summer 2008, Helen Matthews, who works for me, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I made the decision that having a collection tin wasn't enough and so after some thought, two plans were hatched.
Firstly, we decided to hold at least two breast awareness events each year to help raise funds for the charity. And secondly I decided to convert part of the upstairs room of the shop as a specialist zone to support ladies with breast cancer and who therefore have specific lingerie fitting needs. The Pink Room was born!
The Pink Room was opened by formal ceremony on Saturday 31 October 2009 by Professor Graham Layer, who works at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and, was Helen's surgeon. He seemed absolutely delighted to be invited to perform the cutting of the ribbon; indeed he even brought his own surgical scissors!
